Breeding Values

Our promise is to prioritize optimal conformation, health and temperament in every breeding that we take part in. While we hope to bring more champions into our future litters, our main goal is to provide healthy, happy, and well-adjusted puppies to their future homes.

Health Testing
Every dog that we breed will be health tested as per OFA guidelines. This includes testing for issues with eyes, hips, elbows, heart, and thyroid. DNA testing will also be performed to ensure that no genetic diseases are passed down to offspring such as: degenerative myelopathy, early onset adult deafness, exercise-induced collapse, and juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. Test results are available upon request.

Conformation
All breeding stock will have optimal conformation to ensure that they correctly align with breed standards. Having good conformation is not only important for a dog doing well in the show ring and breed preservation goals, but it supports the overall health of the dog. If a dog has correct conformation, it is less likely to incur injury and have future issues as it matures and will continue to have a long, active life.

Puppies

As a small kennel, we will only breed dogs when we are looking to add another to our own pack. Time will be taken off work to ensure that puppies are raised, in our home, with the upmost care to give them the best start to life and ensure that integration into their families’ lives are successful. The Puppy Culture socialization and training program will be followed to develop puppies from birth to the time time that they go home. Critical socialization periods occur during this time and age appropriate lessons and protocols will be followed.

We hope to have life long relationships with all our puppy people and are happy to provide support and answer questions throughout the lives of your ridgeback family members.
